Leadership Team

Matt RAWLINS
Singapore

I joined Youth With A Mission in 1978. I went from my school in Hawaii to work in Micronesia (Saipan) for three years. There I was involved in evangelism and training. I then went to Hong Kong where my focus was on leading a cross cultural evangelism team of 24 students to Korea, Japan, Philippines and then back to Hong Kong. I began work in training in Hong Kong when they asked my wife and I to move to Singapore to take over the work there.

I was in Singapore for five years where our ministry grew to approximately 50 staff with teams coming and going throughout all of Asia. Our focus in Singapore was on training and leadership training. After the work in Singapore and regional leadership in the last year and a half, I became very interested in cross cultural leadership development and what were the core ingredients that are needed to maximize a leader's growth and effectiveness.

My family and I left Singapore and moved back to Oregon where I finished my BA in Management and Communication from Western Baptist. I began work on my Masters in Education from Portland State, then transferred to the University of Wales where I finished my Ph. D. My focus in research was on the 'Learning Leader' and what communication is needed to make organizational leaders effective in times of turbulence or change.
