Leadership Team

Gwen BERGQUIST
Kona, Hawaii USA

Gwen is from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and has been in Youth With A Mission for about 25 years. She completed a DTS in Sunland, California and then went back to teaching school in Northern Canada for two years. It was there that the Lord called her to full-time missions. Doing and staffing the School of Evangelism in Kona, Hawaii helped prepare her for leading evangelism teams out of Hong Kong in the early 80s called "FEET Teams." She worked with FEET Teams for five years, taking teams throughout Asia and South Africa, then moved to Thailand and for ten years to help pioneer Thai ministires. Later she worked with Impact World Tours and co-ordinated the tour for the Island of Kauai, Hawaii. She has also worked with the Crossroads DTS in Kona, 80 Nations Project, and the Mega-Mobile DTS out of Armenia.

Since the year 2000, Gwen has been involved in creating a teaching workbook called "Destiny by Design," to help people recognize the way God has made them so they can better understand their calling and purpose. Upon completion of her LTS in Barbados in 2002, Gwen received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from the UofN. She now serves on the leadership team of the International DTS Center.

Holger SCHEIN
Cape Town, South Africa

Holger was born in 1963 and grew up in Hamburg, Germany. Since he was eight years old, he always wanted to be a missionary doctor, but God had other ideas. In 1986 he joined YWAM in Hamburg, Germany, and eventually did his DTS in England in 1987. He worked in England for 13 years, leading DTS's, directing schools and then leading the Holmsted Manor base for a number of years. His focus is now on DTS's and leadership training. His heart is to see young leaders lay a strong spiritual foundation in their own lives and others, as they pursue their calling.

Holger and Jilly , a New Zealander, were married in 1993. Jilly led DTS's at Holmsted manor, and then became a full-time mum. The Scheins know that their calling applies to their whole family. They desire to share their family life with anybody God places into it. Within this context they want to see many people discipled and grow in their knowledge of God and maturity in their personal walk with Him. The Schein family has relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, to work from there with the IDTSC, training leaders and staff who work with DTS's.
