
THE PURPOSE OF DTS
to gather & challenge
people to worship, listen to, and obey God, releasing them (in the context of the DTS) to serve through evangelism, intercession, acts of compassion, and other expressions of God's heart for the world, possibly even pioneering new ministries.
to inspire & cultivatE
growth in one's relationship with God, resulting in Christ-like character, which is based on a solid Biblical
foundation, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the personal application of Biblical truth, especially concerning God's Relational Nature and Character and the person and work of Jesus.
to SHArpen​
one's ability to relate to, learn from, and work with people, including those of different cultures, personalities, and perspectives.
to Further equiP
each one to serve God's purposes in or outside the YWAM Family of Ministries, strengthening a commitment to reach the lost, especially the unreached, care for the poor, and influence all areas of society.
to IMPART
the story, vision and foundational values of Youth With A Mission and the University of the Nations and to provide information regarding a variety of global opportunities for service upon successful completion of the Discipleship Training School.

LEARNING GOALS OF THE DTS:
>Understand God’s Big Story from Creation to Renewed Creation.
>Engage God through the Bible in a way that transforms beliefs, values, and behaviors.

>Develop a growing relational knowledge of God-Father, Son, and Spirit, including his nature, character, and ways.
>Develop a growing desire and ability to listen to and obey God.

>We are called to embody God’s character in every aspect of our lives. This involves integrating our faith into our daily work, relationships, and stewardship of creation.
>Students will understand that central to human identity is the fundamental need for relationship with God and one
another, recognizing the importance of cultivating these relationships.
>Students will understand that God's intention is for people to develop families, communities, and cultures that reflect aspects of His character.
>Students will explore their capacity to create, develop ideas, find solutions, and provide services in various life contexts— such as family, church, celebration, economy, media, government, and education—to display God's glory.
>Students will explore the consequences of sin on people and creation, including giving over their God-given rule to Satan.
>Students will learn to recognize the enemy as an evil deceiver, accuser, thief, tempter, and liar, and learn how he opposes God and His purposes.

>Grow in their understanding of the person and work of Jesus.
>Can share the Gospel with the lost and have life long commitment to do so.
>Develop a desire to continue being involved in God’s kingdom work among the nations, especially among the Unengaged, Unreached People Groups (UUPGs).

>Increasingly cooperate with the empowering presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit
>Develop a strengthened sense of their identity in Jesus, becoming more like Him in daily living and relationships.
>Cultivate strengthened lifestyles of worship, prayer, intercession, spiritual warfare, and service.
>Enhance their ability to relate rightly with others, especially those different from themselves, including male-female relationships, community participation, cross-cultural, and multigenerational relationships.
>Gain a clearer understanding of God’s general purpose for their life and discern potential next steps.
>Understand the calling, values, covenants, and legacy words of YWAM/ UofN and become aware of various opportunities available within YWAM/UofN.
